Focaccia Bread Recipe

Ingredients:

– 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour – 1 tsp salt – 1 tsp sugar – 1 packet active dry yeast (2 ¼ tsp) – 1 cup warm water – 2 tbsp olive oil (plus extra for drizzling) – 1 tsp dried rosemary (optional)

Instructions:

In a small bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until the mixture becomes frothy and the yeast is fully activated.

In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Gradually add the yeast mixture and olive oil, stirring until a sticky dough begins to form.

Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 to 7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Add a little flour if it’s too sticky.

Place the dough in a greased bowl. Cover it with a damp cloth or plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until doubled.

Punch down the dough gently, then transfer it to a greased baking sheet. Stretch it out with your fingers to fit the pan.

Drizzle olive oil generously over the top. Dimple the dough with your fingertips and sprinkle with rosemary or your favorite toppings.

Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 20–25 minutes until golden brown. Let cool slightly before slicing and serving warm.
