– 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts – 1 cup flour – 2 eggs, beaten – 1 cup breadcrumbs – 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese – 2 cups marinara sauce – 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese – ½ teaspoon salt – ½ teaspoon black pepper – 2 tablespoons olive oil – Fresh basil (optional)
Pound chicken breasts to an even thickness. Season both sides with salt and pepper. Set up three bowls with flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs.
Coat each chicken breast in flour, dip in egg, then press into breadcrumbs until fully covered. Repeat with all pieces and set them aside.
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook chicken breasts for 4–5 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Place cooked chicken in a baking dish. Spoon marinara sauce over each piece, covering them generously.
Sprinkle Parmesan cheese over the sauced chicken, then top each piece with mozzarella cheese. Add extra sauce if you like it saucier.
Bake for 20 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly. Chicken should reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
Remove from oven, let rest a few minutes. Garnish with chopped basil if desired. Serve with spaghetti, salad, or garlic bread. Enjoy!
